Your feet are the foundation of your body, so it’s important that you take proper care of them. Our foot clinic can’t stress enough to you how critical it is to treat your feet right, and we have a few tips for making it happen:
- Examine your feet—Whenever you take off your shoes at the end of the day, our foot clinic recommends doing a quick assessment of your feet. Make sure you don’t have any red spots, sores, or cuts on your feet and that they aren’t swollen.
- Wash your feet—On a daily basis, use warm water to wash your feet, and avoid soaking them in the water so they don’t dry out. It’s also a good idea to apply talcum powder to your feet after you’re done washing them. This will prevent infection and keep the skin between your toes dry.
- Always wear shoes and socks—One of the biggest pieces of advice our foot clinic can give you is to always wear shoes and socks. Since it is so easy to step on something and hurt your feet, make sure you do this even when you’re inside. Wearing good shoes is also critical for proper arch support.
Protect your feet from hot and cold—Your feet are greatly affected by extremes in temperature. For this reason, make sure you keep your feet warm in the winter by wearing heavy socks and lined boots, and wear socks at night if your feet tend to get cold.
