Don’t try to pick at or dig at plantar warts
When you have a wart, they are often more annoying than painful, especially when they are small. These menial little warts are usually handled with over-the-counter medications, or if they are particularly stubborn, they can be frozen off at a doctor visit. Plantar warts, on the other hand, do not act like regular warts. They often grow faster, larger, and are painful to walk or run on. They also grow on the plantar surface (bottom) of the feet. These warts can be avoided if you take some precautions, including:

  • Avoid walking barefoot at the pool or in a public shower area.
  • Keep your feet clean and dry.
  • Don’t try to pick at or dig at plantar warts, as this will only encourage spreading and infection.
  • Avoid using the same toenail clippers or pumice stone as someone else.

If you already have plantar warts, don’t despair! They can be taken care of, but they are going to require something stronger than an over-the-counter wart remover. At Abbott Foot & Ankle Clinic, we can help you rid yourself of painful plantar warts with a much more powerful microwave treatment that will also work much faster.
