Today is Lost Sock Memorial Day. How many of you knew that? Only a chiropodist or podiatrist would know such a fact! It is one of those obscure holidays that acknowledges that you have a drawer full of unmatched socks. Were they eaten by the washer or the dryer? Each unmatched sock represents a missing sock. But for some reason we never discard the lone sock – after all, its match may magically show up some day.

On Lost Sock Memorial Day, we suggest that you spend a few brief moments searching for those missing socks. After your search, spend a minute reflecting upon how warm and comforting the missing socks were on your feet. Then toss the odd socks and get on with your life!

This year May 9th also happens to be Mother’s Day – a much more significant holiday to celebrate. I would suggest you spend the rest of your day appreciating your mother for all that she has done. She is the reason you are here. It is a time to reflect on how much your mother has influenced your life and shaped your destiny. I know for me, my mother has been, and continues to be, a guiding force in my life. Mom, you’re the best!
